As a PhD candidate you will investigate how lipid droplets influence viral infection and antiviral immune responses. Using advanced infection models, CRISPR-based gene editing, primary human cells, and mouse models, you will uncover mechanisms that link metabolism to infection outcome. In this position as physician-researcher or researcher in training in ophthalmology, you will investigate the underlying mechanisms of central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) and polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV), two conditions that can lead to permanent vision loss. You will work with unique patient cohorts, innovative laboratory techniques and research groups in the Netherlands and Denmark. In doing so, you will contribute to new knowledge that forms the basis for improved treatments in ophthalmology.</description>
