Detect & Act

This cluster aims to improve detection of pathogens as well as host biomarkers in diagnostic settings, to enable timely patient treatment and infection control measurements at a global level.

The focus ranges from cutting-edge technology to identify applicable host biomarkers, development of innovative, point-of-care (POC) diagnostic tests , typing and surveillance methods, to implementation and IVDR marketing of assays globally. Multi-omic wet lab components include genomics, metagenomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics and proteomics. Novel big data analyses approaches are addressed and benchmarked internationally. Machine learning approaches (AI) are explored to assist diagnostic algorithms, clinical adjudication and interpretation of findings. One of the focuses is to impact at the individual patient level by personalized medicine. Another aspect is to contribute to epidemic and pandemic preparedness as well as to monitor (interruption of) transmission.
