Talk summary 

n this talk, Dr. Li will present her efforts to translate high-resolution, large-scale health data into interpretable, actionable insights. She will share findings from studies on Lyme disease, COVID-19, and post-operative complications, and introduce the Personal Health Dashboard (PHD)—a scalable, secure data platform developed by her and the team to support biomedical big data analytics. The talk will explore how digital health tools can be applied in complex clinical settings and everyday health management, bringing us closer to a future of truly personalized, proactive care.

Dr. Xiao Li

BIO: Dr. Xiao Li is an Assistant Professor at Case Western Reserve University in the United States. She has extensive expertise in integrating genomic, clinical, and digital health data to monitor physiological changes during healthy and diseased states. Her research leverages machine learning to advance disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. She developed the change-of-heart algorithm, which uses wearable-measured resting heart rate for early detection of infectious diseases.  Her recent work includes using commercial wearable devices for pre-symptomatic disease detection and management, focusing on conditions such as COVID-19 and recovery in patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery. She was honored as a Crain’s Cleveland Business 40 Under 40 awardee in 2021.
