Hepatology

The research focused on hepatology is led by staff members prof. dr. Bart van Hoek, dr. Minneke Coenraad and dr. Maarten Tushuizen. Our ultimate goal is to understand the pathophysiology of liver diseases and to improve treatment for patients with acute and chronic liver diseases. There is a strong focus on auto-immune and metabolic liver disease, liver fibrosis, complications of end stage liver disease, including hepatocellular carcinoma, and liver transplantation.
