Dr. P.W. (Philip) Voorneveld

I am a translational researcher and Gastroenterologist specialized in IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease). My medical studies and residency were done at the LUMC. During my PhD I have researched the effect of protein signaling pathways on the behaviour colorectal cancer cells.

My current research includes various subjects ranging from IBD to pancreatic cancer with a focus on stromal cells and signaling pathways. I am a member of the science committee of our gastroenterology department and of the LUMC biobank committee. Together with two colleagues I founded the Stroma Research Initiative Leiden to stimulate scientific research and collaboration. I am an active member of the Initiative on Crohn and Colitis (ICC), a national research collaboration between hospitals to improve the quality of life of IBD patients.
