Introduction
I am a cardiologist specializing in interventional cardiology. In 2013, I completed my cardiology training at Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre, affiliated with the Complutense University of Madrid. Subsequently, I specialized in interventional cardiology at the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), where I currently work as an interventional cardiologist. In 2023, I defended my PhD thesis at Leiden University. Additionally, I obtained a master’s degree in healthcare management and administration from CEU University (Spain) and completed a postdoctoral program in clinical research at Harvard Medical School.
Scientific research
I have a special interest in complex percutaneous coronary interventions (CTO), mechanical circulatory support, invasive treatment strategies for acute pulmonary embolism, and percutaneous treatment of structural heart defects. I am a co-founder and core member of the LUMC Shock Team and ALERT (Acute Pulmonary Embolism Response Team). I am also the co-coordinator of the SCAD program (spontaneous coronary artery dissection). I am actively involved in scientific research on percutaneous treatment of complex coronary conditions and cardiogenic shock, and I am the local principal investigator for several national and international studies.
