Introduction
After completing my medical studies in 2007, I pursued research in molecular biology (immunology and stem cell technology) to develop new targets for innovative treatments. After completing my PhD doctorate with honors (cum laude), I remained actively involved in scientific research to develop novel insights and treatments for myocardial infarction and structural heart diseases.
My residency program in general cardiology was completed at UMC Utrecht and St. Antonius Hospital Nieuwegein, followed by a specialized training in interventional cardiology (Nieuwegein). From late 2020 to 2021, I further honed my skills in percutaneous interventions of heart valves and cardiopulmonary support in Germany (Vivantes Klinikum am Urban in Berlin and Universitätsklinikum Essen).
Since December 2021, I have been working at LUMC and actively engaged within the Netherlands Society of Cardiology (NVVC), serving as chair of the working group for Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS).
