Introduction
My name is Cyril Boonmann and I am a senior researcher and psychologist in training to become a psychotherapist at the child and adolescent psychiatry department of LUMC Curium. I am also a senior researcher at the Bovenregionaal Expertise Netwerk Zuid Holland (BREN).

After studying psychology at Leiden University, I obtained my Ph.D. in forensic child and adolescent psychiatry at VUmc Amsterdam in 2015 (title of the thesis: Mental health problems and juvenile sexual offending behavior). I then worked for seven years as a senior researcher and psychotherapist (training as child and adolescent psychotherapist completed in Switzerland in 2021) in (forensic) child and adolescent psychiatry at the Universitäre Psychiatrische Kliniken (UPK) Basel and the Psychology Faculty of the University of Basel in Switzerland. I am currently still involved in a number of scientific projects at the UPK Basel and remain affiliated with the University of Basel.
Scientific research
I am currently involved as a co-supervisor in a doctoral study on the working methods of the Regional Expertise Teams in Zuid Holland and in a doctoral study on the relationship between non-suicidal self-injury and resilience. I am also project coordinator of a longitudinal follow-up study on psychopathology, psychosocial problems and offending behavior in young adults with a history of residential care, and involved in several studies in forensic child and adolescent psychiatry in Switzerland (psychopathology, psychosocial problems and offending behavior in adolescents in forensic child and adolescent psychiatry, VR treatment of aggression, ethical guidelines for the use of VR treatment in closed settings).

I am also a board member of EFCAP, the European Association for Forensic Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Psychology & other involved professions, and liaison editor of the scientific journal Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Mental Health (CAPMH).
