Congenital Heart Disease Center Amsterdam-Leiden

At the end of 2021, Hugo de Jonge, then minister of Public Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) announced his intention to concentrate the nation's children’s cardiac surgery and complex operations on adults with congenital heart diseases in two centers located in Rotterdam and Utrecht. Putting this plan into effect would mean closing the LUMC’s Amsterdam-Leiden Center for Congenital Heart Diseases (CAHAL) as well as Amsterdam UMC. You can read about all of the developments here.
