When should you go to the emergency room?
You can get a referral to the LUMC emergency room (ER). For example, if you obtain a referral from your general practitioner or from a 112 employee, paramedic or Radiology department. This can also be arranged following consultation with your medical specialist. The Emergency Room is always open.
Have you come to the emergency room without a referral? If so, you be required to assume all costs associated therewith at your own risk. If the medical bill is for an amount higher than you are able to pay, the extra costs will be paid for by your insurance. This includes when your healthcare insurance provider has no contract with LUMC.
Emergency parking
Have to make an emergency visit to the LUMC? Then you can use the emergency parking facilities at the emergency room (ER) to park your vehicle. You will only be permitted to park here for a short while. You can park your vehicle for longer in the LUMC parking garage.
What should I take with me to the ER?
- A valid item of personal identification: passport, identity card, residency permit or driver's license.
- Referral letter from your general practitioner (if you have one).
