Introduction
I am a mental health psychologist in training to become a clinical psychologist and am involved in various ongoing studies as a senior researcher at the Psychiatry department, the most important of which is the Wait List Study. Within this study we investigate the possibilities of e-health for patients on the waiting list for mental health care.
Scientific research
ZonMw recently honored our grant application for the ‘Wait List Study', a study aimed at improving care for patients on the waiting list in Dutch mental health care (GGZ). In this study we aim to investigate the effect of waiting for mental health care and also explore the effect of offering personalized e-health interventions during the wait list period. This is in line with the Theme: Innovation - Prevention & Lifestyle, as we are developing a method for early detection of symptoms and target areas of attention in lifestyle. This allows patients to start working on their mental health before they actually receive care. We conduct this research in close collaboration with colleagues within our department, as well as in collaboration with other departments of the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), and several large mental health institutions.
I am also involved in a number of studies that conduct brain research into the differences in brain structure and functionality using (f)MRI in various (neuro)psychiatric disorders.
