Introduction
I am internist-infectiologist with special interest in tuberculosis and other mycobacterial infections. I studied medicine in Leiden and was trained as internist and infectiologist in Bronovo hospital and LUMC. Besides clinical work, after my specialization I have done many years of research, especially aimed at diagnostics for tuberculosis infection, including supervision of several PhD students. In addition, I have been module coordinator of the course Mechanisms of Disease 1.
At present I am the trainer of the specialization in infectious diseases, coordinator of Medicine year 2, and member of several national guideline committees on tuberculosis. My goals are to give patients the best of care, to help students and doctors in training to develop further, and to make a strong team with my colleagues. This is accomplished by seeing patients, by teaching, by supervising doctors in training and by always being open to the vision of others.
