Introduction
I have been working as a hematologist at the LUMC since 2017 with a special interest in acquired bone marrow failure, in particular aplastic anemia.

The LUMC is the national expertise center for aplastic anemia and my goal is to improve the treatment and care of patients with aplastic anemia.
I conduct both clinical scientific research into treatment outcomes including quality of life and laboratory-oriented research into the pathogenesis of aplastic anemia.

Since 2020, I have been working with the department of pediatrics and infectious diseases in the field of allogeneic stem cell transplantation for adults with a primary immunodeficiency.
Scientific research
2020-present: Principal investigator on the study “Aplastic anemia: improving the future of bone marrow failure”. The aim of this research project is to clarify the pathogenesis of acquired aplastic anemia. This research falls within the LUMC Innovative Research Theme “Immunity”.

2016-present: Principal investigator on clinical outcomes including quality of life after treatment with immunosuppressive therapy or allogeneic stem cell transplantation for aplastic anemia in the Netherlands.

2016 to 2021: co-investigator from the LUMC for European RACE study investigating the addition of Eltrombopag to first-line treatment with ATGAM and cyclosporine for patients with aplastic anemia.
