Medical Decision Making
The following research themes can be discerned in our research:
- Costs versus outcomes: cost-effectiveness analysis, value-based health care, costing research, measuring health-related quality of life and wellbeing.
-
Doctor-patient decision making: doctor-patient communication, patient and doctor preferences, shared decision-making, self-management, and eHealth.
-
Quality of care and Implementation: patient safety, patient reported outcome measures (PROMS), quality of care, and (de-)implementation.
Research Groups
Within the context of these themes both applied (clinical) and methodological research projects are carried out. The latter involve both the development and evaluation of research methods. The research program is interdisciplinary, and is positioned at the cross-roads of decision analysis, health services research, quality of care research, (decision) psychology and communication research, epidemiology and statistics, information technology, and medical ethics. The group has close collaborations with many departments of the LUMC, as well as with other national and international research groups.
