Introduction
Merel van Diepen works as assistant professor in the field of renal epidemiology. With a background and PhD in econometrics, her expertise is in statistical and methodological issues, with a particular interest in prediction research. She is currently working on several research projects on various databases, together with her team of PhD students. She is also involved in teaching several courses, and is the coordinator of the course Academic and Scientific development for first year Medicine students.
Scientific research
Merel van Diepen’s main research interest is prediction modeling for patients with kidney disease. She was awarded both a junior and senior Kolff grant from the Dutch Kidney Foundation, and won their first Research for Health Award for her research on external validation of prediction models.
