Introduction
Dr. Dennis Mook-Kanamori is a medical doctor en family practice physician affiliated to the department of clinical epidemiology. He also works at the department of public health and primary care. His medical training was at the University of Leiden (2005), his PhD in Clinical Epidemiology at ErasmusMC (Rotterdam) (2010), and his specialty training in family medicine at the University of Leiden (2014). During his PhD, his research was focused on the interplay between genetic and environmental factors on early growth and cardiometabolic health. After his PhD, he did post-doc on how metabolomics and cardiometabolic health for which he received a VENI grant in 2013. More recently, his research has shifted from molecular ‘big data’ to clinical ‘big data’, where he focuses on combining large routine (primary care) healthcare datasets. Besides his research activities, he is a family doctor in Lisse.
Scientific research
Dr. Dennis Mook-Kanamori currently focus on combining large routine healthcare datasets for both etiologic and predictive research, mostly in primary care. Though his research is primarily focused on cardiometabolic diseases, he is also active in other fields, such as mental health, childhood trauma and COVID-19. He sits on the steering committee of several national and international consortia.
