Childcare

If you have children, you may want to use childcare. We have our own childcare centre, Langhors, but you can also choose another organisation.

If you have children you may require childcare facilities. The LUMC has its own childcare centre, Langhors, but you may also choose another childcare organisation. We recommend you register early at the LUMC Langhors childcare centre (when you have been pregnant for three months) because there may be a waiting list.

Regulations for placement in Langhors

All LUMC staff members may register their child(ren) for childcare at Langhors, however, there is a strict admission-priority policy. Basic principle is that staff who find it hard to place their child(ren) elsewhere due to shift work get priority at Langhors. The admission-priority order is:

  1. Siblings and children who are already attending Langhors, and whose parents wish to extend or change the days of childcare.
  2. Children of parents with a position related to patient care and who:
    a. only do shift work; or
    b. due to their work have to make use at least 2 days per week of extended and/or flexible childcare.
Condition is that these children are on the Langhors waiting list and do not yet attend another childcare centre.
  3. Children of staff mentioned above who so far attended a different childcare centre.
  4. Children of parents who do not have a position related to patient care, but who:
    a. only do shift work; or
    b. due to their work have to make use at least 2 days per week of extended and/or flexible childcare.
Condition is that these children are on the Langhors waiting list and do not yet attend another childcare centre.
  5. Children of other staff members on the Langhors waiting list.
  6. Children of other staff members who so far have attended another childcare centre.
