AGB Register

The AGB Register (Data Management Register for the Healthcare Industry) contains the codified data of healthcare providers in the Netherlands. If you work in healthcare, you need an AGB code to identify you in the various digital processes used in healthcare. An AGB code must be requested by you in person.

An AGB code is a unique code identifying you in the various digital processes used in healthcare. Your personal details and your authority levels can be inferred from the code, thus allowing (for example) healthcare institutions to look up your details when they make referrals or when they prescribe medication. The LUMC needs your AGB code in order to declare healthcare costs to the health insurance company. More information on the AGB Register is found on the  AGBcode website.

What healthcare workers are required to have an AGB code?

All healthcare workers must have an AGB code: medical specialists, physiotherapists, paramedics, etc. A complete listing of all professional groups is found on the AGB code website.

The AGB code is not meant for:

  • Trainee specialists (AIOS)
  • Senior house officers (ANIOS)
  • House officers
  • Junior house officers
  • Nurses
  • Carers.
