Why wait for your PhD to make a difference in medical research? Jessica is already doing it now! As a research assistant at the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), she explores the fascinating world of scientific research every day, even before her PhD dream becomes a reality. With her passion for data and insatiable curiosity, each day is a new learning experience. "It's an adventure where I discover new pieces of the puzzle every day," Jessica says with a smile.

Daily puzzle
What does a day in the life of a research assistant look like? For Jessica, each day starts at 8:30 AM with a team meeting. "After that, I dive into the tasks assigned by my supervisor," she explains. "The work is a mix of routine and surprises. Sometimes I discover small errors in the data that the doctors have overlooked. It’s my job to track these down and correct them." Jessica's work requires precision and a critical eye. "It gives me satisfaction to contribute to the quality of the research," she says proudly.
