Researchers at LUMC have developed a method for enhancing the purity of insulin-producing islets generated from stem cells in the laboratory. The strategy could be used to purify other stem cell-derived cell products as well. The advancements bring us one step closer to the clinical implementation of regenerative cell therapies, such as those under development for patients with type 1 diabetes at the LUMC.
