Since March 2022, I have been working as a postdoctoral researcher at the C.J. Gorter MRI Center, where I investigate the biology of the brain in patients with Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy.
In 2014, I finished my Master’s in Biomedical Sciences with a specialization in Immunology and Psychophysiology, cum laude. Following that, I started my PhD at the department of Neurology, Amsterdam UMC, location AMC. Between 2016-2022, I combined my PhD research with a role as a high school biology teacher. In 2017, I started with the Educational Master at the University of Amsterdam where I graduated cum laude in 2018.
In 2022, I defended my PhD thesis entitle ‘the frontotemporal syndrome of ALS: clinical progression and changing brain networks’.

Wetenschappelijk onderzoek
My research interests focus on cognitive and behavioral impairment in neuromuscular diseases. Specifically, within my research I investigate neurobiological correlates of cognitive and behavioral impairment in Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy, by using the combination of neuropsychological tests and advanced MRI techniques.
