Bianca Boxma-de Klerk, PhD, is Assistant Professor at the department of Clinical Epidemiology of the LUMC since March 2024. She has a background in ‘Healthcare management’ (MSc. Erasmus University, the Netherlands) and a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology (Erasmus MC, the Netherlands). She fulfills the role of Program manager in the national Post-COVID Consortium and coordinates the development of the infrastructure (WP2) and the methodology across all consortium work packages (PF1). Apart from working at our department, Bianca is active as a DSMB methodology-member for several clinical studies and will start working for ELAN, the academic GP network of Leiden – the Hague at the LUMC department of Public Health and General Practice, when the Post-COVID project will be up and running. She is an active member of the Dutch Society for Epidemiology (VvE, working group research), participates in several national working groups concerning regulation of non-WMO research and occasionally provides clinical trial support through the company Medwave.
Wetenschappelijk onderzoek
Bianca’s PhD focused on early recognition of knee osteoarthritis, embedded in the Rotterdam Study, at the department of General Practice at the Erasmus MC, Rotterdam, the Netherlands. After that she worked as supervisor of the science bureau and Epidemiologist in two Top Clinical Hospitals (resp. Maasstad hospital (2011-2016) and Franciscus Gasthuis & Vlietland (2016-2022)) where she set up the hospital-wide research quality system. Here she broadened her epidemiological skills supporting, teaching and advising researchers from many disciplines, with a special focus on interventional cardiology. From 2022-2024 she worked as a senior researcher at the LUMC department of Rheumatology where she coordinated the Early Arthritis Clinic cohort.
