Nerve Surgery Research Group

Research of the Leiden NerveCenter is focussed on nerve regeneration and repair, nerve tumours and pain. We aim to refine diagnostics, investigate new treatment strategies and develop outcome measures.

The Leiden NerveCenter is a national referral centre for the surgical treatment of major nerve lesions. We offer speciality care for patients with obstetric and adult brachial plexus injuries, peripheral nerve injuries, nerve compression and nerve lesion pain, nerve tumours and loss of arm and hand function due to spinal cord lesions. An multidisciplinary team consisting of neurosurgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, pain anaesthesiologists, rehabilitation physicians, neurophysiologist, hand therapists and physical therapist works together to obtain the best outcome.
